Your guide to Getting Married in Jasper National Park, Alberta

Here are some things you should know off the hop about getting married in the park:

-You need to have a Jasper Park pass to visit the park, so make you sure you have this purchased and displayed In your vehicle for your whole stay. This can be bought when you are entering the park at the gates.

-Your photographer and videographers are required to have a valid Business License to work in the park, so make sure you ask them in advance if this is something they have before bringing them into Jasper to avoid any fines. Oh and just in case you were wondering, yes I DO have my Jasper Business License and I am ready to come to Jasper with you ANYTIME!

-Be sure to bring clothes for any type of weather, I’ve seen it snow in June!!! Mountain weather can be wild, be ready to roll with it! My best piece of advice, is to not stress about the weather. Even the cloudiest days can produce a beautiful sunset in the mountains, and the wild weather creates the opportunity for beautiful photos.

-To travel and experience the park fully, you will most likely need to drive to get to your locations, so bringing a vehicle is key.

-Leave yourself some downtime to enjoy your stay. There are SO many things to see in Jasper, so don’t forget to leave room to explore too!

Where to stay in Jasper:

Jasper is full of mountain town hotels, as well as airbnbs and of course if you really want the mountain experience, there is also camping options! Here are some of my favourite spots to be sure to check out! A quick google search for Jasper Hotels and Accommodations will also lead you to many other great spots.

-Whistlers Inn:

https://www.whistlersinn.com

This hotel is a lovely spot to stay if you don’t want to splurge on accommodation and still have a great experience! Located right downtown, you get the opportunity to explore the streets of Jasper like a local and check out all of the shops. It is also very close to all of the great restaurants so will be sure to not go hungry! There is a bar/restaurant attached to the hotel. The BEST part of this hotel, and my personal favourite is the rooftop hot tub. There are two tubs to soak in, with a stunning view of the town and mountains to enjoy. My favourite way to enjoy this spot is in the morning while the sun rises over the mountains!

-Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge:

Stay here to experience Jasper National Park in all of its luxury. Just a few things this resort has to offer are a spa, golf course, restaurants, outdoor heated pool, car rentals, and so much more. The whole property is a nod to Canadian Heritage and styled to show off the Canadian mountain buildings. Stay in one of the chalet styled guest rooms, suites, or cabins. They are pet friendly, so your furry family member doesn’t have to miss out on your special day either! The resort is a short drive into the town of Jasper, and close to many of the iconic sights of Jasper. They also have several different options of hosting your entire wedding at the resort itself, with many different location options for your wedding size needs.

Things to do:

Let me first say you don’t have to do anything at all on your Elopement day other than enjoy time with each other, BUT if you are wanting to do something fun or just enjoy a cool experience together, here are some ideas to think about!

-enjoy a picnic by the river, snag a day use spot with a firepit and get cozy

-book a helicopter tour to view the rockies from the air (and get some seriously EPIC photos from me!)

-plan a short hike together to see a new perspective of the mountains.

-rent a canoe and paddle in one of the many emerald lakes (don’t forget to bring me along for the sweetest romantic paddling photos hehe)

-if your elopement is in the winter, take a sleigh ride with the Clydesdale horses at Pyramid Lake!

-Grab a ticket for the Jasper Skytram and ride to the top of the mountain together.

I hope this information dump about all things wedding and elopements in Jasper National Park helps you plan your DREAM wedding in one of the most beautiful spots in Canada. And I might be biased, but if your looking for a photographer I know a gal… PLEASE BRING ME!!

HAPPY WEDDING PLANNING!
