Quinn + Matt Meerdink get married in Winlaw, BC near Revelstoke
There’s just something about the mountains that makes small weddings feel even more magical. Quinn + Matt planned the most intimate wedding near Revelstoke, British Columbia, in the tiny town of Winlaw. To get there, you actually have to cross a ferry and wind your way into this tucked-away spot — the kind of place where life slows down and nature takes over. It was the perfect setting for their cozy celebration with just 20 of their closest friends and family. And trust me, you are definitely going to want to scroll to the bottom of this post to view their Super 8 Film Footage…

Helicopter Ride to the Mountain Tops for Private Vows

The day before their wedding, we met at Glacier Helicopters and lifted off into the clouds for an unforgettable pre-wedding adventure. Flying high above the mountains, Matt even spotted a bear from the helicopter (you can tell he’s an outdoorsman). Once we landed, they shared private vows at the top of the world, away from the rest of their guests. It was quiet, emotional, and so personal — just them, the mountains, and a view that stretched forever. Watching them laugh and light up as we explored that alpine ridge together was one of those moments that reminds me exactly why I love photographing elopements.

Wedding Getting Ready at The Windsor Hotel

We all stayed at the charming Windsor Hotel, and the morning of their wedding felt relaxed and unhurried. Quinn + Matt got ready quietly before leading their guests into the forest they had explored together on past trips. They had chosen a massive cedar tree as the place to make it official — surrounded by green, under the soft cover of branches that sheltered everyone from the light rain. The weather only made it more moody and magical, and the gentle drizzle added to that cozy, storybook feeling.

Their forest ceremony and portraits…

After the ceremony, we ran around the forest together, letting the day unfold naturally. The way these two love to explore together made every part of this wedding feel so true to them. As a final stop, they took me up a gravel road to one of their favorite hidden gems — a waterfall tucked off the beaten path. Standing there with the roar of the water behind them, the two of them felt completely in their element. It was wild, romantic, and the perfect way to end their Revelstoke wedding story.

Just married portraits in the rainy forest and hidden waterfall
For me, one of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is exploring new places with couples like Quinn + Matt. Elopements and small weddings like this light my creative heart on fire — because it’s not just about documenting a wedding day, it’s about capturing the way two people experience the world together. And in Revelstoke, that story will always be tied to mountains, forests, waterfalls, and the kind of love that thrives in adventure.
