If you’re dreaming of relaxed, cinematic engagement photos in Alberta, this session with Morganne + Kain is the perfect inspiration. As an Edmonton wedding photographer who loves escaping the busy city for quiet, nature-filled locations, I couldn’t have asked for a better summer evening than this one at Emerson Lake Campground in Sundance Provincial Park. Just a short drive from either Edson or Hinton, it is one of the most peaceful hidden gems around.

Morganne + Kain love to adventure

Morganne and Kain are the type of couple who are always adventuring together. Whether it’s hiking new trails or camping lakeside, their love is built on shared experiences. So it only made sense to meet at a secluded little lake surrounded by forest for a laid-back photo session that felt like them.

A dreamy and moody summer sunset:

The warm summer night and a soft haze from wildfire smoke in the distance created the dreamiest golden glow to everything. The water was still, reflecting the tall evergreens perfectly — and the energy between these two was effortless. We started by exploring the rocky shoreline and running barefoot through the mossy lakeside trails. Morganne wore a white tank and jeans, Kain in a linen shirt, keeping it casual and true to them.

You can’t do a photoshoot at the lake without jumping in at the end…

As the sun started to dip behind the trees, they walked the dock hand-in-hand, laughing, spinning, and soaking in the moment. And of course — we couldn’t end the session without them jumping into the water fully clothed. That’s just who they are. Carefree, wildly in love, and always up for a little fun.

They shared a kiss while floating in the middle of the lake, hair soaked and hearts full. This shoot felt like a soft Alberta love song — earthy tones, moody skies, and playful energy.
