by your go-to Edson Photographer…
First off— OMG congrats, grad! You’ve made it through all the late-night cramming, hallway gossip, and fuelled study sessions. Now it’s time to celebrate YOU with a grad photoshoot that’s just as fun but WAYYY less stress as your final year. Being your Edson Alberta photographer, I’m here to spill all the details you need to know to make your shoot totally unforgettable.

When should you book?
Honestly, as soon as you have your dress (or suit!) picked out! I recommend booking your shoot for early summer, riiiiight before your grad if possible! I try to avoid too early in the spring to avoid the brown grass and mud in the forest areas. When we do pick a date, I always suggest booking in the evenings because want that golden light and dreamy sunset. Booking a few months in advance guarantees you’ll get a prime spot on my calendar—and enough time to plan your look. June tends to be a busy month as my wedding season begins, so booking as early as possible is your best bet!

What about hair and makeup?
Whether you’re booking a professional or doing it yourself, keep it true to you. Think: elevated everyday—nothing too heavy, just enough to give you that confidence boost. If you are doing a makeup/hair trial, the best time to book in would be the same day as we are doing photos! Also yes, bring bobby pins and lip gloss for quick touch-ups! Just in case!

The editing magic?
I’ll smooth out blemishes, fix flyaways, and make sure you’re glowing without looking overly filtered. Your photos will feel like you on your best day. And yes, I absolutely send the silly shots too—laughing mid-spin, epic hair flips, you name it. They’re often the ones that tell the best story.

Can you post them before grad?
Only if you want me to! I won’t share anything until you’ve given the green light. Want to keep it all a surprise for the big day? I’m on board. I always send a few sneak peeks within 2 days of your photoshoot so you have something fun to post after you throw that grad cap in the air!!

Location tips?
Think about somewhere that feels like you. Wildflower fields, downtown Edson, rustic barns, creeks, or even your family acreage—we can brainstorm the perfect spot that fits your vibe and outfit. Still not sure? Don’t worry, I have lots of locations in the area up my sleeve and have no problem sharing with you!

Your grad shoot isn’t just about pretty photos—it’s about freezing a moment in time before everything changes. And trust me, years from now, you’ll be glad you went all in. And your mom will too… hehe
